What electric motor should I use to build a screw wood splitter?
If our wood splitter will be driven by an electric motor, and we do not have a motor yet, the best solution will be to choose a 1400 rpm engine and select power according to the drill bit diameter:
Motor up to 3kW - recommended drill diameter: 60-80mm
Of course, you can also use a 2800 rpm engine, however, you will need a much larger pulley next to the splitter, which can make it too expensive and less handy.
Remember that the drill bit rotation should be within 400 - 600 rpm.
When choosing a 1400 rpm engine, we need a gear ratio of about 2.8
When choosing a 2800 rpm engine, we need a gear ratio of about 5.8
Knowing the appropriate engine parameters, it's time to familiarize yourself with the offer of drill splitters .
